Coltons First Overnight Scout Trip

Yesterday at 4:30 we dropped Colton off at the church for his very first overnight scouting trip. I could not sleep at all last night. Is he cold..... hungry...... uncomfortable...... homesick (wishful thinking)...... being attacked by a wild armadillo? Oh the thoughts that keep going through my head. I only have 6 more hours until he comes home. Looking forward to a good nights sleep tonight!!

Recycling

I finally finished a project that I started about 18 months ago. I picked up an old fireplace mantle thinking that I could somehow turn it into something cute. Here is the finished product..... a bookshelf!!! I think with paint and wood it maybe cost me $15.00 to finish. I think that is a pretty good deal!!!

Happy Birthday Kaden

Soooo handsome

Today is Kadens 9th Birthday. I can't believe that this little boy is already 9 years old. He has been such a joy to have in our family. I love his smile and his little witty sense of humor. I also love that he is the only one of my three boys that I can snuggle without having to use extreme force. I can remember so vividly the day that he was born. I was shocked that I could have another little baby that I loved just as much as I loved his older brother.
Kaden was instantly a mama's boy. He slept on my chest until he got too big and I would have to gasp for air because he was smashing me. I was just as attached to him as he was to me. I literally carried him around until I was hugely pregnant with Porter and physically could not do it anymore.
We are so blessed to have Kaden in our home. He is a great kid and a pure joy to be around. Happy Birthday Kaden - WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!

I have learned so much from my kids. It seems like every time I turn around I am amazed at what strong and wonderful people they are. It is always amazing to me that they are turning out to be such amazing little boys despite my shortcomings as a mother.

Today Kaden had to do a report on the Gila Monster. After doing a presentation in front of the class the kids wrote questions on a piece of paper to give to him. One of the questions came from a little girl asking if the Gila Monster could kill a human. Somewhere in this question she took the Lords name in vain. Kaden wrote back with the answer to her question and then wrote "PS - please don't take the Lords name in vain."

As he was telling me this story I was shocked. It must have taken great courage to write that.

Apparently the little girl wrote him back apologizing and said that she knew she shouldn't have said what she did. I was glad to hear that all things ended on a happy note. Kaden was so impressed with the way the little girl handled his note. He kept saying, "she is a really good girl mom, she said she was sorry, and that means she repented." What good kids!!!!

This story brought back so many memories of me as a teenager being absolutely mortified by my little sisters correcting others bad language or reprimanding a smoker. I could not help but smile at all the memories. I love the fact that children are so honest and so innocent. Through their eyes things are right or wrong and we should always choose right. Maybe more of us need to hold on to that attribute a little longer than we do.

Officially The Mother Of Three Boys..........

I had an amazing Valentines Day. I was spoiled rotten by all four of my boys. I did have to laugh at the card that was carefully chosen for me. This is the front cover............
and then the inside................I wish that I had a video clip of Colton and Kaden laughing their little heads off before I even opened the card. Their faces were absolutely lit up with excitement. Welcome to being the mother of little boys.

I am so lucky to have 3 amazing little men + 1 ultimate amazing man in my life. I love these little guys so much. People ask me all the time if I'm sad that I don't have a little girl. I can honestly say that I am completely fulfilled with the little spirits that Heavenly Father chose to send to me. I am not sad one little bit. Just look at them..... how could I be???
