Arrow Of Light

Colton had a great ending to his years as a cub scout. He received his Arrow Of Light. He was so proud and excited. I think the greatest part is that he got to receive his award along side of his two best buddies, Daniel and Evan. I've said before how grateful I am for the friends that he has made - we could not have hand picked better. We love you Colton!!!

(PS - The reason he does not have a scout shirt on is because we lost it in the move and I did not want to buy him one for all of the 6 months that he had left in Cub Scouts. How do you loose a scout shirt you ask........ Yeah - not sure! )

Swingin In The Rain

I just had to take a picture of Porter swinging his little head off in the rain. He absolutely loves his swing set. He will spend hours swinging and singing. I love hearing his little skreachy voice singing as loud as he can!

WHEW........

For the past week my mind has been a little preoccupied with worry over these two cute people. For those of you who have patiently endured my never ending talk of Sherry and this little angel I thought it would be nice to put a face with the name. So here they are healthy and doing so well! Little Matthew is doing soooo much better than you could even imagine. In his little 3 pound body lies a 8 pound spirit strong as ever - I am sure much of that has to do with the many prayers sent his way. Isn't he the cutest thing.

Happy Birthday Porter

5 weeks old - pictures taken by Jackie (http://www.jackiepettit.com/) Thanks Jackie!

I can't believe that my baby boy is already three years old. He is such a huge blessing in our home. He is such a funny little guy always keeping us laughing and on our toes. I feel so lucky to have him.

Words Of Wisdom

My extended family has a monthly family newsletter. This month my grandpa included this poem in his letter. It is funny but definitely drives home an important truth. I thought you might enjoy it.

Jake, the rancher, went one day to fix a distant fence.
The wind was cold and gusty and the clouds rolled gray and dense,
As he pounded the last nail in and gathered tools to go.
The temperature had fallen and the snow began to blow.
When he finally reached his pickup,he felt a heavy heart,
from the sound of that ignition,he knew it wouldn't start.
So Jake did what most of us do if we'd have been there.
He humbly bowed his balding head and sent aloft a prayer.
As he turned the key for the last time,he softly cursed his luck.
They found him three days later, frozen stiff in that old truck.
Now Jake had been around in life and done his share of roamin'.
But when he saw Heaven,he was shocked -- it look just like Wyomin'.
Of all the saints in Heaven, his favorite was St. Peter.
Now, this line, it ain't needed but it helps with rhyme and meter.
So they set and talked a minute or two,or maybe it was three,
Nobody was keepin' score --in Heaven time is free.
"I've always heard," Jake said to Pete,"that God will answer prayers,
But one time I asked for help, well He, just plain wasn't there.
Does God answer prayers of some, and ignores the prayers of others?
That don't seem exactly square --I know all men are brothers.
Or does he randomly reply, without good rhyme or reason?
Maybe, it's the time of day,the weather or the season.
Now I ain't trying to act smart,it's just the way I feel,
And I was wonderin', could you tell --what the heck's the deal?
Peter listened very patiently and when Jake was done,
There were smiles of recognition, and he said, "So, you're the one!
That day your truck, it wouldn't start, and you sent your prayer a flying,
You gave us all a real bad time, with hundreds of us a trying.
A thousand angels rushed to check the status of your file,
But you know, Jake, we hadn't heard from you in quite a while
And though all prayers are answered, and God ain't got no quota,
He didn't recognize your voice, and started a truck in North Dakota.

Can You Say ...... Sister Suzy Sitting On A Thistle.......

I wonder how this little boy continues to eat. He has lost all four of top front teeth as well as his bottom two teeth. It is so cute to listen to him talk.

Yummy Roast Recipe

I got this recipe from my neighbor. It was sooooo easy. It is just a different way to cook your roast. Sometimes I like to try new things and this one was soooooo good.

Put your roast in your crock pot - sprinkle with salt and pepper
Add 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 can cream of celery soup, and 1 can of french onion soup (not the dried soup mix)
Cook on high for 1 hour and then on low for 6-8 hours

It really was so good and so easy! I love easy!

Porter's "STEVE"

This is for those of you who live by me and are wondering why Porter is ALWAYS in a striped shirt about 10 sizes to big. He has a new facination with Steve the guy on Blue's Clues. Steve is always wearing a striped shirt, therefore Porter has decided he will not wear anything but striped shirts. Unfortunately he does not have any, but not to worry, Colton, Kaden and even dad have striped shirts. Every day he will bring me his "Steve" as he calls it and we will have to put on which ever striped shirt he has found for the day. Even if it is dragging on the floor. :o)
